Welcome to the new and improved Photo Here Photo There! We hope this new blog theme will make it easier for our readers to explore both past and recent posts, while maintaining the simple, photo-centric character of our original layout.
To kick off the new blog theme, I’m featuring photos from Hood River, OR. A few weeks ago, a friend and I explored this small Oregon town during a ski trip to Mt. Hood. It’s fairly well-known to adventure sports enthusiasts, thanks to its ideal location along the Columbia River and its proximity to Mt. Hood’s ski resorts. Hood River seems to have taken a lot of care to maintain the historical buildings in and around the center of town, which – along with the surrounding natural beauty – made for some great photo opportunities. Also, I love how Canon’s 50mm f/1.4 lens seems to be made to take photos at twilight. If you have a fast (low f-stop) lens, I highly recommend spending time shooting during the ideal lighting conditions in the few minutes just after sunset.
